I have several installed in my home and all of them have the same problem. I have read this is somehow related to fluctuations in electrical current - however our house is new and the wiring is new. It is easy to install with a screwdriver (and needle nose pliers if you use the optional locking features). Turn off the power to the circuit, attach the mounting base to the electrical junction box, connect the alarm's pigtail connector to the house wiring with 2 wire nuts and plug the connector into the alarm, and rotate the alarm into its mounting base. Then restore power and you should see the green power monitor light above the test button. The instructions require a magnifying glass to read and the 9V battery is a tight fit. The alarm can be wired to other alarms in the same residence, so one alarm triggers the others. Green monitor lamp to verify power. Chirps when the 9V backup battery gets low. 85-decibel alarm. First Alert doesn't list this product on their website - either too new or discontinued? Has 10 year limited warranty. |
