It's like the signals are weak or something. About half the time, they all test fine. My problem is, if the unit in the basement detects CO, I need the bedroom unit to wake me up! Every time! I spoke to tech support and I think these units only send ONE transmission to the other units, during testing. BUT, in case of fire or Carbon Monoxide (CO), they should keep repeating the transmission, many times. Two smoke alarms in adjacent bedrooms with a closet in between them have trouble communicating with each other reliably in test mode. 50 feet of range as advertised in the instructions is not obtainable. We have a small single story house (1500 sq ft) with standard wood construction (no metal studs or metallic wallpaper). We bought 4 onelink detectors and after about 2 hours of troubleshooting we got them all to communicate with each other in test mode MOST of the time. As a result of this positive experience, I purchased 5 120V - wired OneLink detectors to replace the existing smoke detectors in my vacation home, and added a batter-powered OneLink alarm (Model SA501CN) to that system as well. It was a bit tricky to get the batter-powered alarm to link to the wired alarms - you need to follow the instructions exactly as they are written; do anything slightly different and the two won't link to each other. The instructions are very clear and easy to understand, so if you follow them you won't have any problems. |
